Aluminium sulfate, alternatively referred to as alum, is a white crystalline inorganic compound favoured for its high-efficiency water-purifying capacity and diverse industrial uses. It is an inorganic aluminum salt with molecular formula Al₂(SO₄)₃ and molecular weight 342.15. It appears as white or off-white crystalline powder or flakes. This product is soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution shows weak acidity.
The material is slightly hygroscopic under normal ambient conditions and decomposes at temperatures over 770℃ without a distinct melting point. It features good flocculation and adsorption capacity. Different purity grades are available to satisfy industrial requirements.

Product Application of Aluminium Sulfate CAS# 16828-11-8
Aluminium Sulfate is a widely used inorganic flocculant in water treatment industry for drinking water and wastewater purification, removing suspended solids and turbidity. In papermaking field, it works as sizing agent and filler retention aid to improve paper strength. It also serves as raw material for manufacturing alum, fireproofing agents and tanning agents. In textile processing, it acts as mordant for dyeing to boost dye fixation on fabrics.
Besides, it can be applied in soil amendment for adjusting acidic-alkaline balance, as well as for preparing concrete waterproof additives. It suits water treatment, paper mill, textile and other fine chemical industrial production.
