Carbon Black CAS#1333-86-4

Versatile Industrial Applications – Carbon black is widely used in the manufacture of tires, belt covers, plastics, carbon paper, and as a colorant for printing inks.

High Performance as a Pigment – Provides deep black coloration, suitable for both industrial applications and as an edible pigment in pastries.

Energy Absorption Capability – Can function as a solar-energy absorber, offering potential applications in energy-related technologies.

Precision Usage in Food Industry – Safe for use as an edible black pigment in pastries at controlled concentrations (0.001%–0.1%), demonstrating its versatility across different industries.

Product Description of Carbon Black (CAS#1333-86-4)

Carbon black consists of highly-finely dispersed carbon particles. When suspended in air close to an ignition source, it can trigger explosive combustion. Moreover, it is capable of self-heating and spontaneous ignition when exposed to water. Inhalation poses health hazards; its occupational threshold limit value (TLV) is set at 3.5 mg/m³ for airborne concentration.

Main Application Fields

Rubber Sector It functions as a reinforcing filler for tyres, belt covers, hoses, industrial rubber goods and conveyor belts. It improves key performance of vulcanized rubber, including tensile strength, wear resistance, elongation and tear strength. This grade fits largesize tyres built on natural rubber, off-road tyres as well as tyre sidewall components.

Coatings, Inks & Plastics It serves as a colorant pigment in paints, printing inks, plastics, shoe polish, leather finishing agents, pigmented cement and coated fabrics. It is also adopted to deliver deep black tones for black paper, carbon paper and typewriter ribbons.

Food-related Uses It works as an edible black colorant for baked pastries at dosage of 0.001%-0.1%. Within China’s regulatory scope, it can colour rice, flour  based goods, candies, biscuits and pastries, with a maximum permitted addition of 5.0 g/kg.

Electronics and Battery Industry It acts as conductive additive for lithium-ion batteries, electrode materials and antistatic rubber articles.

Other Usages Additional scenarios cover metallurgical processing, rocket propellant formulations, phonograph record production, as well as serving as an absorption material for solar energy.
