Product Application of 1,3-Butanediol (CAS#107-88-0)
1,3-Butanediol features diol-based chemical activity, odour-free property, low-toxic characteristic and favourable water-soluble performance. Its primary usage fields are shown as follows:
Feedstock for Polyester and Alkyd Resins
It participates in the manufacturing of unsaturated polyester products. The substance can be applied separately or blended with ethylene-glycol raw materials, end-finished materials with outstanding water-proof capability, pliability and shock-resistant capacity.
Plasticizer Synthetic Precursor
After reacting with dibasic acids including adipic acid, it generates polyester-type plasticizers. These additives come with low volatility and anti-migration traits, alongside great tolerance against soapy-water, organic solvents and grease substances.
Raw Ingredient for Polyurethane Coating Systems
It works as the synthetic unit of saturated polyester applied within polyurethane paint. Compared with other diol substances, it can greatly enhance the water-repellent performance of uncoated substrates.
Humectant, Softening Agent and Industrial Solvent
This chemical boasts powerful moisture-locking capacity and harmless low-toxic attributes. Its ester derivatives can serve as wetting additives and softeners for tobacco goods, celluloid, vinylon membrane, paper and textile fibre. Besides, it acts as the dissolving medium for fine-chemical supplies such as skin lotions, medicinal ointments, face creams and tooth-paste. It also works as a synthetic intermediate for medicine and dyestuff production.
