Product Description of Sulfamic Acid CAS#5329-14-6
Sulfamic Acid is a colorless, odorless solid categorized as a strong acid with low-toxicity features. Its aqueous solution delivers powerful acidity comparable to hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, yet it brings markedly weaker corrosive impact on metallic materials. Thanks to its potent acidic performance, sulfamic acid earns the alias of solid sulfuric acid. It can act as a substitute for sulfuric acid and forms high-purity crystalline products with favorable room-temperature stability. Its solid-state feature brings practical merits for packaging, storage and transportation workflows.
Solid sulfamic acid maintains great stability under dry ambient-temperature circumstances. It is non-hygroscopic and non-volatile, and dissolves readily in water to generate ionized moderately acidic solutions. This compound shows negligible solubility in most organic solvents, dissolves poorly in ether, while being soluble in liquid nitrogen, ethanol, formamide and acetone.

Product Application of Sulfamic Acid CAS#5329-14-6
As an important fine chemical, sulfamic acid serves diverse industrial applications. It is widely used for industrial and household cleaning, metal/ceramic processing, petroleum industry, electroplating, electropolishing, asphalt emulsification, etching, dye, pharmaceutical and pigment manufacturing.
It also acts as a sulfonating agent, dye auxiliary, high-efficiency bleacher, flame retardant for fibers and paper, softener, resin crosslinking accelerator, herbicide and blight inhibitor. In analytical chemistry, it works as a reference standard for acid-base titration. Its derivative calcium sulfamate controls wheat rust.
As a solid product with simple storage, transport and preparation, sulfamic acid is popular for cleaning boilers, condensers, heat exchangers, reactor jackets and chemical pipelines. It removes scale from brewing tanks, beer coolers, evaporators, paper mill equipment and air-conditioning cooling circuits.
Marine industry uses it to eliminate algae and scale on shipboard seawater evaporators, heat exchangers and brine heaters. It also cleans radiators, dishwashers, toilets, ceramic tiles, food and dairy processing machinery, removing protein deposits from steam cookers and residues on food disinfection equipment.
USDA approves sulfamic acid as an acidic cleaner for meat, poultry, rabbit and egg processing industries.
