Product Application of 2-Mercaptobenzimidazole CAS#583-39-1
2-Mercaptobenzimidazole is widely used across rubber, metal treatment and fine chemical industries. In rubber manufacturing, it serves as a non-staining antioxidant and copper ion deactivator for natural rubber, nitrile rubber and latex, preventing thermo-oxidative aging for white, transparent and light-colored rubber products such as cable insulation, seals and automotive rubber parts. It acts as an efficient corrosion inhibitor for copper and copper alloys, forming protective films in industrial circulating water and antifreeze systems. It can also work as brightener in copper electroplating.
In pharmaceutical and agrochemical sectors, it functions as a key building block to synthesize bioactive derivatives for drug and bactericide development. It can be applied as thermal stabilizer for polyolefin plastics as well.
